About Us

On February 6, 2023, the first meeting of a group of people who will work to include Międzyodrze in the National Park took place in Chojna. A team of experts from various fields undertook the tasks of documentation, scientific studies and promotion of the project. The team consists of specialists, social activists, naturalists, ornithologists, scientists, cultural heritage specialists, media people, nature photographers and artists. They all share a love for the Odra River, nature and Międzyodrze, but also the belief that the Lower Odra National Park is the best form of protection and promotion for this extraordinary area. Międzyodrze is an area of exceptional natural values, unique on a European scale, and among all other proposed locations for new parks, this is ideal. Międzyodrze National Park!

Our mission

Creation of the Lower Odra Valley National Park in the land of marshes and backwaters of Międzyodrze within the borders of the present landscape park. Convincing people that this decision will protect the unique wetland area for future generations. Showing that we will not lose anything and we can gain a lot, both in the short term by attracting tourists and giving jobs to locals, and in the long term by protecting the ecosystem and protecting the area against ecological disasters for many years.

Unique nature

Międzyodrze lying in the heart of the Lower Oder Valley! Great diversity of fauna and flora, a long list of protected species, birds alone – there are over 200 species here, including many threatened with extinction. It is an almost completely wild land of peat bogs, wet meadows, a tangle of canals, backwaters and even lakes, mostly completely inaccessible to humans. An area with an extraordinary history with several dozen historic hydrotechnical structures. Still an undiscovered land for many! This isolation is conducive to natural wealth, which in this part of Europe is something unique and therefore requires protection.

“It is possible to unite human efforts and take action to save endangered natural resources.”
